Built from what grows here
Here the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta runs all the way down to the Caribbean, and Palomino is where it lands. Kanta Sana is the quiet part of that: a pool among the palms, a garden, hammocks in the shade, a fire lit when the light goes.
We did not build with marble. We built with wood and guadua, with white mosquito nets and open air, with the sound of the town waking up around you. The essentials, done properly, and nothing added for show.
Rooms and beds
Sleep under white nets
Private rooms for two, three or four. Family rooms. One suite. And beds in a shared dorm for anyone travelling light. Every one of them has a mosquito net, air moving through, and a simple, clean bathroom.
Private rooms start at COP 90.000 a night before taxes; a dorm bed starts at COP 35.000. Rates move with the dates, and you see the full rate on the booking engine before you confirm.
The grounds
Where the day goes
A guadua walkway runs through the garden. A rope bridge hangs in the trees. The pool holds the afternoon and the hammocks hold what is left of it, and when the light goes the fire is lit and the lounge fills up slowly. Read, talk, or do nothing at all. Doing nothing counts as a plan here.
Getting here
On the Troncal del Caribe
Palomino sits on the Troncal del Caribe, between Santa Marta and Riohacha. Come by bus or by car from Santa Marta. The nearest airport is Simón Bolívar, in Santa Marta.
